Add ViroReact Integration for AR/VR
Ben Weber
After my long search, the only solution to develop apps for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality with React Native seems to be ViroReact (https://viromedia.com/viroreact/).
Especially now that Expo has stopped their own AR project, it would be great if Expo would support ViroReact. ViroReact is easy to use and allows the simultaneous development of AR/VR experiences for Android and iOS. Perfect to fill the gap of AR/VR in the Expo ecosystem.
According to some response, the Viro team would be ready for this (https://github.com/viromedia/viro/issues/63#issuecomment-404210736).

We will be making an EAS plug in available soon that allows you to run viro
Niccolò Caselli
Charles Killer: Is it possible to have an idea of the timing?
Charles Killer
Niccolò Caselli: Hi, I have shared the plugin in the viro discord. Right now the maintainer has them but there hasnt been any progress on the repo in a while. Feel free to join the discord and I'll share with you, otherwise when i have time I can make a separate repo to provide the plugin
Niccolò Caselli
Charles Killer: Thanks so much! After a couple of tries I managed to do it.
Charles Killer
Niccolò Caselli: Nice, feel free to DM me there if you have any issues

Charles Killer: hey, perhaps a dump question, but does that mean, that i can use the package now in the managed expo flow? Or do i have to switch to bare flow to use it? thank you for reply!
Charles Killer
Supa Mario: hey, the bare workflow doesn't really exist anymore.
I believe expo call it the "universal workflow" where eas adds the native modules into builds for you. The plugin will configure the native setup for you.
Supa Mario
Charles Killer: thank you for the reply!

iphone has a lidar detector on their newest version there should definitely be this functionality for use with that!

Although it is not a popular request, it will become more demanded in the future.
I find it interesting that Expo, as it had it in its day, is part of those AR-compatible tools.
I would need this functionality myself and will not be able to count on Expo.

I wonder if the Expo team is willing to release the integration with Viro and if this feature has already been scheduled. We really need this feature. Many are now requesting this integration!

Now that AR is officially NOT supported by expo, it's time to add ViroReact to Expo. Thanks!
