Support for Google Play 64-bit requirement
complete
Mohammad Islam
While creating a new release, I noticed a new warning message today on Google Play Console. It says:
Warning: This release is not compliant with the Google Play 64-bit requirement
The following APKs or App Bundles are available to 64-bit devices, but they only have 32-bit native code: 44.
From August 1, 2019 all releases must be compliant with the
Include 64-bit and 32-bit native code in your app. Use the Android App Bundle publishing format to automatically ensure that each device architecture receives only the native code it needs. This avoids increasing the overall size of your app.

do u know how i can make a 64-bit app that can be use by 32-bit android phone? because when i add plugin for 64-bit architecture, it successfully uploaded to play store but android phone with old android version (and probably have 32-bit architecture) cannot use the application
i am using intel xdk to develop app..and the plugin i add it in config.xml file
Michael Wood
Pasti Nyala: Hi. This feature request is about Expo (https://expo.io/). If you develop an app with Expo it will include both 32-bit and 64-bit code, so will be usable on 32-bit or 64-bit phones.
Pasti Nyala
Michael Wood: i develop an app with Intel XDK..
Michael Wood
Pasti Nyala: OK, but I don't see what that has to do with Expo. https://expo.canny.io/ is for stuff related to the https://expo.io/ project, so I don't think we can help you.
Pasti Nyala
Michael Wood: ya. sorry to disturb you sir
Ahmed Aniss

I'd like to know either if there is any chance of this to come soon

Is there any chance to see this change in July?
Willy Rosa Huanca
I cant publish to play store even with this warning.
Brent Vatne
Willy Rosa Huanca: yes you can, this is just a warning. you can continue to publish just fine until august 1, at which point 64bit will be necessary, and expo will support it before then
Brent Vatne
this will be ready before that kicks in :) we should add some info to docs about it to be clear
Brent Vatne

Sjoerd van den Broek
Brent Vatne: Is there an indication when these SDK versions release? New bundles can't be uploaded in the 32-bits format anymore.
Brent Vatne
Sjoerd van den Broek: you can upload them just fine. the requirement doesn't take effect until august 1st

Sjoerd van den Broek
Brent Vatne: Yeah you were right, I just hadn't filled out all bundle details correctly. Sorry about that.
Alon Roth
Brent Vatne: Are we still aiming to release it before it kicks in? Thanks! :)
Brent Vatne
Alon Roth: yep, working on a release now
Avinash Bandil
Brent Vatne: We are getting the same error while uploading the app on google play store. We did upgrade our old Expo from 33 to 35 but still getting warning. Can someone help urgently.
Brent Vatne
Avinash Bandil: can you send more info to secure@expo.io? thanks
Avinash Bandil
Brent Vatne: Hi Brent . Please see attached error we are getting when we tried to upload our app on play store . See attached images
Charlie Cruzan
edit: sorry,
expo build:android -t app-bundle
won't solve that error message, I was mistakenAvinash Bandil
Charlie Cruzan: We tried that but no success. can someone help here
Michael Wood
Avinash Bandil: The message seems to imply that there might be a problem with the version number of your app, so the message might be about an earlier version of your app that has a later version number? I don't know if this is the case, but possibly worth a try. Check the version number of the latest version in the Play store, then make sure the version you're trying to submit has a later version number.
Also try this:
It should allow you to verify that your app bundle contains 64-bit code. i.e. the process on that page should generate the following APKs (amongst others):
apks/base-arm64_v8a.apk
apks/base-x86_64.apk
Avinash Bandil
Michael Wood: Thank you for the good response to all. Finally we got success and app uploaded on store. However we have to create a new app on play store as it was showing same error while updating the existing one. reason is still unknown.
